Located on the southern coastal village of Kalkara, it has been a focal point in the historical development of the Maltese Islands, due to its ample size for ships to enter and moor as well as it’s geographical importance in the middle of the Mediterranean. Villa Bighi is one of the most iconic buildings on the majestic Grand Harbour vista. The central original villa was originally intended as a summer residence for Fra Giovanni Bichi in 1675, however further to its expansion by the British in the 18th Century it became known as the Royal Naval Hospital Bighi. Villa Bighi oozes elegance & style and it is one of the finest examples of 19th Century neo-classical architecture on the Islands. Villa Bighi also affords breath-taking views of the natural harbour of Valletta, which is stunning enough by itself to warrant a spot as a top wedding venue choice. The newly re-purposed Villa Bighi features a number of reception halls as well as indoor and outdoor areas, which can cater for a wide range of wedding sizes. The smaller spaces can be individually themed and used for more intimate weddings, or can be combined together so as to create a space for different uses suitable for larger groups.
