A Ruby Celebration!

June 20, 2018 1:30 pm

August 17th 2015 is now another important date for the Hampton family, which will from now on be listed in their yearly calendar of celebrations. On this day, Pat and Tom declared their love for each other once again, in front of their loving family and friends.

We were contacted by Pat Hampton back in January 2015 when she expressed their wish to celebrate their 40th year of marriage by renewing their wedding vows here in Malta – right where she was born and where, 40 years ago, the couple came on honeymoon.  They were aiming at a full-blown wedding-style celebration with everything including the bridal dress, new wedding rings, cake and all the rest. This time, however, it would mean even more to them as they were having their children and grandchildren with whom to share this special celebration.

With “ruby” as the main event theme for obvious reasons, we have based all the planning around this colour and managed to incorporate it throughout the entire services – transportation, flowers, cake, accessories, etc.

The actual day had finally arrived and preparations started early. When all the guests were ready, they left in a ruby-coloured vintage bus that drove them from the San Antonio Hotel where everyone was accommodated to St. Dominic’s church in Rabat. A few minutes later, Pat, Tom and their two youngest grandchildren arrived in a vintage limousine and the whole party took photos in front of the church. Shortly after, mass started. It was an overall lovely ceremony where some happy tears where shed but the couple declaring their love wasn’t the only awe-provoking sight. Harry, the couple’s adorable 3 year-old grandson, who had been given the job of a ring-bearer, had fallen asleep, exhausted from all the excitement around him and missed his big moment. After the ceremony was over, the “newlyweds” released two white doves outside the church as a symbol of their everlasting love.

Following the religious ceremony, traditional Maltese karozzini (horse-drawn carriage) led the guests to the Bastions in Mdina where they had aperitifs and canapés as well as a lovely backdrop for photos. The reception dinner took place at the rooftop restaurant of the Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux, which offers an incredible view of the island under the setting sun. Tom’s speech, thanking everyone for their love and support, was probably one of the most touching moments of the whole day.  Speeches said, toasts exchanged, cake cut…everyone agreed that the day could not have been more perfect!

We feel honored for the opportunity to share this lovely day with Pat and Tom and are grateful for the trust they showed in us. We feel we have become their friends as much as they have also become part of our lives and we genuinely wish them all the happiness in the world for the years to come!

“In every picture and video that was taken in Malta – we and all our guests have never failed to smile. It was such a week ( 2weeks actually) that none of us will forget and probably not achieve again. Very humble and so glad you arranged it all for us. A complete success.” – Tom Hampton
