A Fairytale Wedding at Palazzo Parisio

August 22, 2017 5:25 am

This is the story of two beautiful people: Genevieve, an Irish bride who was to marry Ronan, also Irish but with Australian roots.  The couple had their heart set on Palazzo Parisio right from the moment they visited for the first time – exactly a year before their wedding date, when they visited the islands to look at potential venues for their big day.

Having a guest list of around 60 people, the party started on the eve of the actual wedding day – Sunday 22nd May 2016.  A drinks reception was held at the Sunset Deck of the Dolmen Hotel, where the majority of the guests, including the couple themselves were staying.  The setting couldn’t be nicer with a picturesque sunset illuminating the skies, flowing drinks and nibbles whilst formalities and introductions were exchanged.  And this set everyone in a party mode ready for another day of celebrations to follow.

The weather was perfect – a very sunny day with a hint of a breeze just right for a balanced mix of the indoors and outdoors.

The day started early with the beauty team having a very hectic day packed with hair and make-up appointments for the bridal party and some of the female guests.  Whilst the preparations were well underway at the hotel, the rest of the I Do Knot team were busy setting up the church and venue and making sure that no detail was spared before the arrival of the couple and their guests.

Bang at four o’clock two black executive cars picked up the groom, the groomsmen and the groom’s parents from the hotel where they drove to the Naxxar Parish Church. Moments after, a coach arrived to pick up the guests and drive them to the church as well. Once everyone had left, the bride and her bridal party were greeted at the hotel with a cool vintage bus from the 1920s.

Upon arrival the guests quickly found their seat in the church and after a few photos were snapped outside the church, the bride and her father prepared to walk down the aisle.

The religious ceremony, officiated by Rev. Fr. Daniel was special and intimate.  The vows and rings were exchanged and finally the couple was declared husband and wife.  More photos were taken outside church and everyone was then led across the street to the magnificent Palazzo Parisio.

Welcomed by a glass of Prosecco, guests made their way to the Palace’s Gardens for some pre-dinner drinks and canapés.  In the meantime the formal shots were taken whilst guests were relaxing in the Palace’s grounds and taking some fun photos of themselves with the Polaroid and props that the couple prepared.

Following a group photo, the group made its way to the grand Ballroom for a lush reception dinner. When everyone was seated, the newlyweds were announced in and the speeches commenced.

Dinner was served and after the fourth course the couple moved over to the terrace for the cutting of the cake and the first dance.

The evening wasn’t just over yet as everyone made its way to the underground cellars where a locally renowned DJ was getting the party going with some upbeat music and guests were quickly appearing on the dance floor.

This was truly a beautiful and elegant wedding.  The team at I DO KNOT would like to thank the core vendors involved into putting together such a great event, without whose input it wouldn’t have been the same. And finally a big CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. & Mrs. Power who entrusted their celebration in I DO KNOT’s professional hands and trusted us right from the start.
