Engaged and Wed in less than a Year!

Katie and James’ love story took a leap ahead a year ago this time when they visited Malta together for the first time and James popped the question, to which Katie replied “Yes” of course. Whilst staying at the picturesque 4* Ramla Bay Resort, they actually considered having their celebration based there and our services were recommended to the couple by the hotel’s event executive.

Katie and James had a fair idea of what they wanted and after a few discussions with us and Ramla Bay Resort, the date for the destination wedding was set. Just under a year of being engaged the lovely couple arrived back in Malta a couple of days before their wedding day so all the final legal preparations and setup were organised and they had time to relax and spend time with friends and family who travelled over for their special occasion. The wedding date chosen is also their anniversary date of when they first met, the couple wanted to get married on this date as it is a sentimental time for them both plus they only need to remember one date in the future!

On Wednesday 13th September the couple and their friends enjoyed a relaxing morning on the beach, soaking up the sun before the preparations were scheduled to start later that afternoon.

Katie was very relaxed during the preparations, enjoying the moment with her closest friends and family members, whilst being pampered by our hairdresser and make up artist.

Wedding flowers were delivered just before the photographer was due to start capturing memories, bringing the wedding colours to life.  For their destination wedding the couple had chosen bright yellow and royal blue as their main wedding colours – very suitable for a summer destination wedding, especially taking place at a beach resort.  These colours were emphasised throughout the entire floral and other décor namely the flower arch at the ceremony venue, royal blue chair sashes to offer a contrast against the white chair covers and most striking sunflowers and yellow daisies as the main flowers for the bridesmaid bouquets.

The civil ceremony took place under one of the resort’s wooden gazebos, enjoying a sea view in the background and accompanied musically by a singer and pianist who animated the private service beautifully.

Once the groom and guests were settled at the ceremony venue and awaiting the bridal party’s arrival, Katie was given the go ahead to make her way down from her room and proceed to walk down the aisle to her husband-to-be.

Katie wore a beautiful gown which she had custom made herself! It was a full length yellow gown, the sleeves were cut short and swept across her shoulders whilst there was a side applique detail running up the entire length of the dress, it complimented her beautifully! Her shoes were custom made too, they were yellow in colour with ‘Mrs Goddard’ written over the sides in royal blue, very glitz and definitely one-of-a-kind!

Before Katie walked down the aisle, her and James’s mothers walked down first followed then by Katie and her Maid of Honour. Katie met James at the ceremony table, both looking totally in love with a few happy tears in their eyes.  The ceremony was very personalised and included some readings they chose themselves.

Prosecco and canapes were served right after the ceremony to toast the newlyweds before the couple made their way with the photographer for some photos of just them two before making their way to the beach terrace where they had group photographs taken with their guests.

The reception table was set up in one large square on the beach terrace so everyone could be on the same table, with Katie and James having the view of the beach in the background. The table was decorated simply yet elegantly, white crystal beads were scattered around, a gorgeous blue and yellow flower arrangement was set as a centrepiece with lanterns placed on each of the four corners with lemon candles dotted around.

Once seated the speeches commenced, giving all the party a giggle. They then enjoyed a three-course family buffet meal that was catered for by Ramla Bay’s top chefs, it was safe to say everyone enjoyed and left feeling very content. A large portion of the wedding party were residing at Ramla Bay Resort, allowing everyone to take their time and enjoy the wedding evening, with no need for any transportation plans.

It was overall a very relaxing and intimate wedding set in one of Malta’s most beautiful beach resorts.  We take the opportunity to wish the couple all the best of luck for a happy future and we hope they keep returning to the islands to celebrate more life events and milestones!
