From Denmark with Love

Camilla and Peter requested the help of our services at I DO KNOT for a simple and private destination wedding. The couple arrived in Malta on the 18th October 2016 with a few days spare to enjoy and relax on this fabulous Mediterranean island.

Their big day was on Saturday the 22nd October and it was a fine and glorious day to begin the start of married life. The couple was residing in the 4* Corinthia Marina Hotel in St Julian’s which overlooks the water edge, very idyllic.

The day before the wedding Camilla had a manicure to get her fingers looking dazzling for when she has the ring placed on them. Then on their wedding day Camilla had a hair stylist visit her at the Corinthia to style her hair into perfection.

At just before 3pm there was a Beauford vintage limousine waiting for the couple outside of the hotel to transport them to Mdina where there ceremony was being held in the beautiful Palazzo Falson. We had a small surprise up our sleeves for the couple, when they left the hotel they were greeted by two police bike men. Knowing the couple were avid biker fans we thought to surprise the couple by organising this as a surprise – an escort from two Maltese police bike-men to be cherished forever. It is safe to say they were delighted.

Upon arriving at Mdina, their photographer greeted the couple and pictures were taken off them in the vintage limousine and alongside the police bikers, who were very welcoming with them.

Camilla wore a beautiful strapless ivory gown that had embroidery detail along the one side of her bust and the dress pinched in at the waist with a waterfall of fabric flowing down the one side. She held a cascade bouquet of white roses and blue flowers that looked stunning contrasting against her ivory bridal dress.  Interesting to point out that choice of bridal flowers were in the hands of the groom, to follow a Danish tradition as they would have had back home.

Peter wore a sand coloured suit with a white shirt and a single white rose for a corsage. The pair looked fabulous.

The ceremony began at 3:30pm and was set in a rustic courtyard with a lot of green foliage, climbing ivy and pretty purple flowers adorning the walls. The affair was completely private with only the bride and groom present along with Matthew and myself as witnesses. The couple were so clearly in love with each other, the tissues were on hand ready and had to be used. When they were officially declared ‘man and wife’ we all celebrated with a glass of bubbly and a selection of canapés. The newlyweds were then taken for photographs out in the beautiful and characterized streets of Mdina for some close up shots of their special day. Their photo-shoot ended up by Xara Palace Relais and Chateux where the couple was spending their first night of matrimony. This is an excellent venue for residing at and with no doubt the newlyweds would have been looked after.

For their reception dinner they had a table booked at the DeMondion in Mdina where they enjoyed a lavish meal for two and celebrated their first wedding night in class and elegance.

From all the team at I DO KNOT, we wish you a lifetime of happiness and good fortune! Thank you for entrusting us with your destination wedding.
